  • Mapping food service locations (including fast food outlets, access to fresh fruit and vegetables and vending machines)
  • Advocating for controls on food advertising of fast food and exposure in public places
  • Advocating/supporting facilities (e.g. water fountains, community gardens, fresh food markets and allotments, breastfeeding locations etc.)
  • Supporting local food production (e.g., through zoning and land use regulation)
  • Advocating for public transport measures that support access to healthy food (e.g. schedules and timetables and routes, space to store parcels en route, shopping shuttles, home delivery services and/or support for local corner shops and convenience stores)
The organisation takes part in the following specific HBE activities Development of a food security postion paper for Councils and health staff. Evalution of useage of outdoor gym facuilities. Currently working with Council on food gardens and a key memmber of the "Food Security Coalition". Progressing a range of strategies under food security Advisory group member for Helthy Comunities Intiiative Wollongong with focus on pA and haelthy eating as well as developing haelthy planning policy within WCC Represenatiove on Healthy cities Illwaraa Gctive Transport Group Key aprtner and adevosory group memmber of 1.2 m biodivesity and food security grant to 3 local councils from Department of the Environment- outcome of development of Illawarra Regional food Strategy nad a whiole range of food growing and sustaiaability initiatives
